  • May 2010. Mexico Child Link is undertaking a joint fundraising event with Down's Syndrome association on 12th June - a sponsored climb of Donard. You can download a sponsor form here.

  • April 2010. Mexico Child Link was given an opportunity to present the BBC Radio Ulster Charity Appeal. Listen to it here
  • April 2009. Swine Flu outbreak in Mexico. Mexico Child link was in touch with project staff on 27th April and it was stated that there have been no reported cases so far in Puebla where the project is located.
  • March 2009. Mexico Child Link has received support from the Evoke Mini Enterprise team run by year 13 pupils at Cookstown High School.

  • October 2008.. Jonathan Getty will be in Mexico to carry out a project evaluation visit on behalf of Mexico Child Link between 30th December and 18th February.

  • May 2007. Karina Durana Roldan has taken up the post of Project Director of our partner organization Fundación Trébol.
  • April 2007. A funding proposal for a new project vehicle submitted to the Volkswagen Foundation in Puebla has been approved.
  • March 2007. The Black Box concert raised over £2,500 including £1,500 from the auctioning of a painting by Fra. McCrory. The CD can still be purchased through Clement's Cafes, Belfast.
  • February 2007. Rory Nellis is organising a fundraising concert on behalf of Mexico Child Link at the Black Box, Belfast on 27th March 2007
  • November 2006. You can now send a postcard from the Mexico Child Link website to let a friend know about our work
  • June 2006. Lisa Fleming, a community artist and freelance photographer, visited our project in Atlixco, Mexico on the weekend of 10th June 2006. She has wide experience of working with young homeless people in Scotland - currently in Fife and West Lothian. She uses photography and art as a tool to assist people in building their self confidence and communication skills. Lisa is currently working on a project called “The Invisibles” This will be a set of portraits of people who are on the margins of society from all over the world. Her work is positive and the viewer of the photographs will see hope rather than sadness or alienation. She will be giving some of the young people at our project disposable cameras with which they will record their world. They will receive copies of the photographs which they have taken, which will also be displayed in Fife, as part of her residency with the Scottish Arts Council.
  • April 2006. Our partner organisation in Mexico, Fundación Trébol, has received a grant from CEMEX to build a wall around the project site and carry out other general repairs to the project infrastructure.
  • April 2006. Mexico Child Link has received support from the Common Grounds non-profit cafe in University Avenue Belfast. A concert organsed by Caroline Orr raised a total of £1416.90. Caroline has recorded an album called Common Thread and the proceeds are being donated to charities working in the developing world. She can be contacted at caroline_orr @ yahoo.co.uk.
  • March 2006. Important news for US donors. From March 15th 2006 the minimum donation accepted through the CafAmerica service will be $500 unless you wish to set up a Donor Assisted Fund (DAF) with them. CafAmerica can no longer process smaller donations on our behalf due to the administration costs involved. Details of this change are available on the CafAmerica website. US Donors making a donation of less than $500 should now use our credit card facility.
  • Jan. 2006. Four of the young people in the project, Rodolfo, Alma Paty and Marisol, have found permanent work in CINIA an organization in Puebla which provides employment for people with learning disability

  • Nov. 2005. Khaled Faïz, a civil engineer from Belguim, is helping our project partners with the design of a small house for independent living. Two of the young people resident in the project, Esteban and Argelio, will live there.
  • August 2004. Jonathan Getty, Mexico Child Link coordinator, accompanied project staff on a trip to Coyay in order to check on the progress of Josefa, a young person who left the project in 2004
  • The children and young people enjoyed a great holiday in Veracruz from Thursday 29th July - August 1st 2004

Mexico Child Link is a UK registered charity which sponsors projects in Atlixco & Puebla, Mexico for homeless, abandoned and orphan children with learning disability, many of whom are ex street children.
