Mexico Child Link is a UK based charity which has raised its own funding since its foundation in 1992.We are trying to recruit 200 "Friends of Mexico Child Link." If each person gives a little, a regular monthly donation of £10, this would raise £2,000 per month. The additional £24,000 raised annually would allow the continuance of our current programmes such as the home for children with learning disability and the carpentry training workshop. We prefer to fundraise in this way rather than through a child sponsorship programme which can unfortunately divide a community by causing inequality between brothers and sisters, or between *friends. I'm sure like most of us you receive many requests from charities and other worthy causes. I would ask you to take a few moments to think about making a regular commitment to Mexico Child Link. Even a small donation would be of great value to us. Mexico Child Link keeps overheads to a minimum as it does not rent office space or spend your donation on publicity or self-promotion. I feel confident that the work carried out is very good value for money. The founding members of the trust have both elected to work for a minimum wage in order to keep overheads low. I would be delighted if you could join us. If you are able to help us reach our target, please complete the bankers order form. Supporters are kept in touch with developments through regular newsletters and updates. Thanks in advance for your interest in our work.
*Like
Oxfam UK, we see childrens welfare as being dependent upon the general
standard of living within their community. That is why Mexico Child Link
tries to improve the conditions of the wider community, including parents,
carers and children, rather than simply concentrating on particular individuals.
We do this through the provision of a range of services which improve
the quality of life of children and their carers who are affected by the
issue of learning disability. Helping individual children can often cause
inequality between brothers and sisters, or between friends. Individual
sponsorship is not always the most cost-effective way of helping, as it
is expensive to keep up a flow of specific information and photographs
between each child and their sponsor.
